Daniel gave a talk about Xuanzang (Tripitaka) who made a 16 year voyage from China to India and back along the Silk road. The talk was accompanied by the most amazing power point slides which shows how the historical figure has stayed with us from the original, but been augmented by other characters, such as the monkey and the pig – well known in the “Monkey Magic” series, and how those characters have been adapted to suit everything from Peking Opera to Japanese anime (cartoons).
