Visit of Vladimir from Bulgaria

We have had the pleasure of a visitor from Bulgaria.
Vladimir is visiting New Zealand and Australia using the Pasporta-Servo. He was to stay in the Central Coast, but a case of the Chicken Pox meant
he was diverted to instead have one night in Hornsby and then stay in Esperanto House. From there he is going to the South to stay with Paul and Penny near Merimbula and Bega.
Vladimir was a fighter pilot for the military in Bulgaria before he retired. He served during the cold war and as Bulgaria was at the edge of the soviet block it was a stressful time. He did get to fly MIG jets though ! He said as a pilot, his conditions were fairly good compared to the majority of the population.
While a pilot, he learnt some English "theoretically", but he says in practice, he cannot communicate using English.
His Esperanto, on the other hand, is very pleasant to listen to and he has attended several Esperanto conferences including a recent UK in China.
